The Computing Department (CD) is located at Building 910 within the `Campus do Pici da UFC`. It has 8 laboratories for research and education, with a total of 200 computers.
The CD belongs to the fiber optic network serving the `Campus do Pici`, this one being directly interconnected to the RNP Point of Presence in Ceará (POP-CE), also located within the campus. Through the POP-Ce, the UFC has acess to the Internet through two optical links of 2,5 Gbps (shared by POP-Ce and POP-MG). The UFC takes part in the Metropolitan Network of Fortaleza (GigaFOR), through the Redecomep initiative, which interlinks research and education institutions in the city of Fortaleza.
Laboratory for Computing Education (LEC)
The Laboratory for Computing Education (LEC) can receive 44 students simultaneously, being one computer for each student. It is equipped with dual-boot up-to-date computers (Linux and Windows). The lab counts with a permanent support team. Its open hours are from Monday to Friday, 8AM to ¨6PM, non-stop.
